Our clients, a young professional couple who love entertaining, needed their open-plan living area to be practical for daily use and optimized for social gatherings. The key challenge was achieving a sophisticated, high-end feel while avoiding disruptive and costly interventions, such as relocating existing electrical and lighting points.
Our Approach: Strategic Planning & Joinery
Our design strategy focused on infusing luxury through highly functional built-in elements and precise planning. We anchored the space with a bespoke media unit placed on the main wall, designed to make a strong visual impact upon entry. This unit combined sleek horizontal lacquered storage and tall wood-veneered cabinet with reeded glass door. The main panel was meticulously designed to ensure the television is perfectly centred with the seating, with integrated lighting making the entire installation stand out.
To define the space and provide storage, we designed a kitchen island. The marble worktop was chosen to complement the adjacent kitchen counter, while the wood-veneered cabinets ensured a smooth visual transition between the new joinery and the existing units.
The Result: Seamless Design for Entertaining
The finished space is a masterclass in functional elegance. A large chaise sofa defines the seating area, complemented by a handcrafted rug and marble coffee tables. Behind the sofa, a narrow bespoke sideboard in a sophisticated navy hue provides both extra storage and a beautiful view for those entering the room. We subtly elevated the dining zone by creating a simple feature on the walls: brass moulding against a calming shade of green. This instantly defines the area without overpowering the room. By relying on smart joinery and furniture placement, we delivered a highly personal space perfectly suited for both daily use and lively dinner parties.
